Offenbach was a master of his craft, and nothing proves this more than 'The Tales of Hoffmann'. Featuring some of the best operatic music ever written, this show is a constantly-changing kaleidoscope of colour, spectacle and emotion. It features the Barcarolle and Olympia's amazing Doll Song.
Hoffmann, a writer, tells an audience of students three love stories. Each of these is a facet of Stella the woman he currently loves. In each, the woman he loves is snatched from him by a rival - incarnations of Hoffmann's 'real-life' rival for Stella's love, the sinister Councillor Lindorf.
Hoffmann's heartbreaks mount up. But just as it seems he has lost everything, he is saved...
This new production is fully staged, sung in English with a full orchestra and features young soloists from major Opera Houses, and the Kentish Opera Chorus. It is directed by Stephen Anthony Brown, with Robyn Sevastos (Musical Director), designed by Susie Caulcutt and costumes by Carol Stevenson.
